VanHORNESVILLE-Joseph
Hubiak age 84 of 104 North Washington Street, Herkimer, formerly of
State Highway # 80, VanHornesville passed away on Monday morning
February 6, 2012 in Folts Homes, Herkimer. He was
born on December 6, 1927 in VanHornesville, son of the late Thomas and
Katie Chomo Hubiak. A lifelong VanHornesville resident he was a
graduate of Owen D. Young High School. On May 12, 1949 he was
united in marriage with the former Rose Adamko in Richfield Springs. Mr.
Hubiak had owned and operated the JoRose Dairy Farm in VanHornesville
until his retirement in 1989. Joe had a strong sense of community
and enjoyed being a vital part of it. For fifty years he was a
Director of the Feed Store in VanHornesville, he did electrical work for
the community, maintained the Bowling Alley in town and worked as a
grave digger for the VanHornesville Cemetery. For many years Joe
was a naturally gifted bowler, he participated in many area bowling
leagues. The high light of his bowling career was when he made
appearances on the television show “Tournament Time.” Mr. Hubiak
will always be remembered as a warm, caring man who was happy to help
others yet looked for nothing in return. He will be greatly missed
by his many friends and family, especially his three cherished
grandchildren.
Surviving are his loving wife of sixty-two years Rose, one son, Joseph
Michael Hubiak and his wife Rose of VanHornesville, , three
grandchildren, Joseph of Gloversville, Justin and Erin Hubiak of
VanHornesville, four great-grandchildren, a sister-in-law, Mildred
Hubiak of Herkimer several nieces and nephews . Besides his
parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Walter Hubiak and John
Hubiak, three sisters, Helen Hunt, Mary Oesar and Anna Kuzenchek. At Mr.
Hubiak’s request funeral service and interment are to be private and at
the convenience of the family.
