Allen "Ozzie" Hunt

May 18, 1950 — Nov 30, 2016

SCHUYLER-Allen "Ozzie" Hunt age 66 passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday morning November 30, 2016 at Saint Elizabeth's Medical Center, Utica. He was born on May 18, 1950 in Little Falls, son of the late Raymond H. and Muriel Yanney Hunt. A lifelong area resident he was raised in Dolgeville and was educated in Oppenheim-Ephrata Central School. On August 17, 1974 he was united in marriage to the former Maria Kosmider in the Herkimer Reformed Church. From a young age on he always had a keen interest in automobiles. He started his own business, the Mohawk Valley Brake in Mohawk. He later turned that business into the Mohawk Medical Supply where he shared the building with his wife's Maria's Jewelry Store. Ozzie had a strong faith in God and was a member of Saints Anthony and Joseph RC Church, Herkimer. In his leisure time, he was still an avid car enthusiast and was currently working on his pride and joy Chevrolet Chevelle. To all who knew him, Ozzie was a caring, helpful and generous man with a heart of gold. Any conversation with him was straight and to the point yet you always felt his warmth and friendship whenever you were with him. He will be sadly missed by his many friends and family, especially his cherished grandchildren.
Surviving him are his devoted wife of forty-two years Maria, one son Andy Hunt and his wife Sabrina of Mohawk, two daughters and their husbands, Holly and Michael Cassella of Herkimer, Jacqueline and Daniel Schell of Ilion, one brother, Gary and his wife Sue Hunt of Utica, a sister, Elizabeth Coons and her husband Paul of Tennessee, a sister-in-law Jenny Morawiec of Marcy, five grandchildren, Daniel, Nathan, Morgan, Ayla and Haley, and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by three sisters, Lorraine Sudakow, Ramona Presley, Rhonda Eramo and a brother-in-law, Charles Morawiec.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday at 9:00am in Sts. Anthony and Joseph RC Church, Herkimer with the Reverend Quay Vo, Pastor officiating. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery. At Mr. Hunts request there are no calling hours but friends and relatives are invited to a gathering for fellowship and refreshments at the Crowley-Barnum American Legion Post in Mohawk immediately after the Cemetery Service.
Expressions of sympathy may be made with memorial donations to the Friends of German Flatts Community Hall, 555 State Highway # 5-S, Mohawk, NY 13407. Funeral arrangements are with Fenner Funeral Home, Inc., Herkimer.
