RICHFIELD SPRINGS-Anne Hornacek, 90, passed away peacefully on Saturday evening , June 4, 2022 at Bassett Medical Center, Cooperstown. She had the support and comfort of her loving daughters at her side. She was born on August 28, 1931 in Salisbury Center, daughter of the late John and Anna Pytel Hrynda. A lifelong resident of Richfield Springs, she was a graduate of Richfield Springs High School. In November 1955, she was united in marriage to John Hornacek Jr. in Oneida. They worked together with her In-laws at the Park Inn Hotel and Restaurant, and raised their family in Richfield Springs. Anne and her husband purchased the Park Inn in 1964, and together they operated the business until John
passed away on November 10, 1988. Anne continued to operate the Park Inn until her retirement in 1992. All those who knew Anne found her to be a caring and vivacious woman. She at one time was a member of the Richfield Springs Veterans Club Ladies Auxiliary. In her leisure time she enjoyed working in both her flower and vegetable gardens, going to the horse races and casinos, and following her favorite baseball team, the New York Yankees. Anne was genuinely happiest when she was surrounded by her many friends and family, especially her cherished grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be truly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
Surviving are her four daughters, Linda O'Connor of Richfield Springs, Christine Slocum and her husband Gregg of Liverpool, Susan Daley and her husband Bob of Latham, and Kathryn VanNess of Aberdeen, NJ, her sister Mary Sadlon of Richfield Springs, seven grandchildren, Michael, Kristin, John, Louis, Bobby, Alexa and Marissa, four great-grandchildren, Chloe, Gavin, Charlie and Avery, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents and husband John, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Metro, Steve, Bill and John Hrynda, her brother-in-law, John Sadlon and son-in-law, John O'Connor.
Calling hours for Anne will be on Monday from 10:00 am until 12:00 noon in J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, 40 West James Street, Richfield Springs . A funeral service will follow immediately after in the funeral home with the Reverend Jill Stellman officiating. Interment will take place in Holy Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Little Falls. Expressions of sympathy may be made with Memorial donations to the Richfield Springs Emergency Rescue Squad. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
