Bette J. Maxson

RICHFIELD SPRINGS – Bette J. Maxson, age 94, of West James Street, passed away peacefully on Friday January 13, 2023 in her home.  She had the comfort of her loving family by her side at the time of her passing.

Bette was born on May 5, 1928 in Oneonta a daughter of the late Roland W. and Elizabeth L. Dykeman Norton. She was raised and educated in Richfield Springs and was the Valedictorian of the Class of 1946. On June 30, 1946 she married Norman F. Maxson in the Richfield Springs Presbyterian Church a blessed union of seventy two years until his passing on November 20, 2018. She was a homemaker dedicated to providing for her family, she relished to be with her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed reading, watching historical fiction, mysteries and classic movies. Bette enjoyed the companionship of her cat, Peggy Sue.

Surviving her are two sons, Thomas Maxson and his wife Sandra, Mark Maxson and his wife Shawn all of Richfield Springs, four daughters Marilyn Patrick and her husband Raymond, Diane Frohne and her husband Ronald all of Richfield Springs, Susan Dodd and her husband Calvin of Vidalia, Louisiana, Sherry Woudenberg and her husband Ronald of Penn Yan, a sister Jean Smith and her husband Earl of Albany,  a sister-in-law Marian Maxson of Richfield Springs; fifteen grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; three great great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Norman F. Maxson.

In according with her wishes, there will be no calling hours. A funeral service will take place at a later time convenient to the family.

We will keep our memories of Mom alive within our hearts and be happy in the knowledge she has once again been reunited with Dad.
