Utica – Carole Ann Cercone, age 93, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 24, 2025 in the Masonic Care Community of New York.
She was predeceased by her son David Magee, son -in -law Peter Gemba, first husband Andrew Magee, Louis Cercone.
Carole was born on June 7, 1932, in Poestenkill, New York the daughter of the late Charles T. and Lois A. Eaton Ovitt. She was raised in Saratoga Springs. Carole was a graduate of Saratoga High School and continued her education to become a Licensed Practical Nurse graduating from the nursing program at Saratoga Hospital. Carole worked for many years in Mohawk Valley General Hospital and The Mohawk Homestead.
She loved to travel. Destinations included Caribbean Cruises, Germany and multiple locations within the United States.
She was very active, enjoying bowling, swimming, boating, and spending summers at the family camp on Sacandaga Lake.
Carole was a member of Order of the Eastern Star and in her youth, she was a Beloved Queen with International Order of Triangles.
Carole was a lover of all animals and ice cream!
Surviving her are three daughter Donna Gemba of Texas, Dorayne Peplinski (Edward) of Richfield Springs, Dawn Moran (Daniel) of Speculator, daughter-in law Donna Neilson (Tommy) of Long Island, Step daughter Donna Guarino (Michael) of New Jersey
Grandchildren include Jason Peplinski (Colleen) of Richfield Springs, Matthew Peplinski (Cristina) of Richfield Springs, Nicole McPherson of Texas, Dylan Magee of Connecticut,Daniell Magee of North Dakota. Cristine (Christian) of Germany, Michael Guarino of Colorado
Great Grandchildren include Sadie Peplinski, Sophia and Vas Peplinski, Ethan and Evan McPherson
A funeral service for Mrs. Carole Cercone will be held on Saturday October 4th at 11: 00 am in J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home Inc. 40 West James Street Richfield Springs with the Reverend Brian Lehnert, officiating.
Burial to follow in Cedarville Cemetery
