ILION-Charles Scott Moyer age 53, passed away on Tuesday, September 8, 2020 in Faxton Saint Luke's Medical Center, New Hartford.  He was born on October 15, 1966 in Ilion, son of Charles F. and Donna VanValkenburgh Moyer.  A lifelong area resident, he was a graduate of Owen D. Young High School.  Mr. Moyer was an honorably discharged US Army.  He entered the army shortly after high school and made a twenty-five year career of military service.  During those years he received an Iraq Campaign Medal with two campaign stars, Army Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal with Bronze Service Star, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and Army Service Ribbon and Overseas Service.  He retired from the US Army in 2012 attaining the rank of Sergeant.  On September 13, 2014 he was united in marriage to the former Jennifer Ann Bonkowski in the Jordanville Federated Church, Jordanville.  They have made their home in Ilion coming from Herkimer.in 2013. Most recently he worked for past three years at Fermer Precision in Cedarville.  Charles was a member of the West Winfield Veterans of Foreign Wars Post # 2338 and the West Winfield American Legion Post.  In his leisure time he enjoyed homesteading, hunting and fishing and was an avid collector of things.  To those who knew him will never forget a kind, caring and patriotic man.  Any conversation with him was straight and to the point, yet you always felt a warmth and friendship whenever you were with him.  He will be truly missed by his many friends and family.

He is survived by his devoted wife of six years Jennifer, his mother Donna Moyer, one sister, Jennifer Schuler and her husband Michael of Jordanville, a niece, Kelsey Schuler, two nephews, David and Harlon Schuler.  Calling hours for Mr. Moyer will be on Friday from 4:00 until 7:00 pm in J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, 40 West James Street; Richfield Springs.  Funeral service will be on Saturday at 1:00 pm in The Jordanville Federated Church.  Interment with military honors will follow in Springfield Center Cemetery.   Expressions of sympathy may be made with memorial donations to Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundations, 2361 Hylan Blvd  - Ste 3, Staten Island, NY 10306.

Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.  It is requested that those attending visiting hours or the funeral service follow the Covid19 Regulations requiring a face mask and maintaining social distancing.
