David "Ferd" C. Ostrander

David C. Ostrander, age 49, of Richfield Springs, known to every as Ferd; passed away on March 26 ^th 2023 in Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester, with family by his side.  Ferd was born in Utica and attended Richfield Springs Central School; but lived most of his adult life in Nutley NJ where her worked as a construction foreman with Local Union 754.

Ferd was predeceased by his father David P. Ostrander of West Winfield NY and his beloved son David P. Ostrander of Nutley NJ.

Ferd is survived by his wife Dawn Ostrander, son Scott Purdy (Bonnie Ann), daughter Brianna Ostrander (Thomas) all of Nutley NJ.  His parents Nancy and Dale Armstrong of Richfield Springs, his sisters Lisa Eissler (William), Elizabeth Ostrander both of Richfield Springs, Ronda Bronson (Jacques) of Endicott, Rachel Egan (Steven) of Syracuse, Catherine Bronson (Richard) of Jordanville, brothers Rodney Bronson (Megan) of Shakopee, MN, and Randy Bronson (Naomi) of Richfield Springs. He is also survived by his two grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles.

If you ask Ferd what his greatest accomplishment was, he would say his kids, Scott, David, and Brianna who he loved and was so proud of.  He loved hunting and fishing and was an avid gardener.  Ferd loved telling stories to anyone who listened and more recently; loved spending time with his companion Jen and their dog.

In accordance with Ferd's wishes, there will be no public services, but there will be a celebration of life to be scheduled in upcoming months.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association.
