RICHFIELD SPRINGS – David George Gravelding, age 86, of Westbrook Drive, passed away on Sunday April 26, 2026, in Bassett Medical Center, Cooperstown.
He was born on January 26, 1940, in Cooperstown, David was the son of the late Earl H. and Dorothy Hannahs Gravelding. He was raised and educated in Richfield Springs and a graduate of Richfield Springs High School. In 1960 he enlisted in the United States Army for three years being honorably discharged in 1963. In 1961 he married the former Eloise Dibble in Richfield Springs. For many years David worked for Remington Arms in Ilion, Bruce Hall Lumber and in his later years he drove school bus for Richfield Springs Central School.
David was also a businessman, he owned and operated the Village Inn, The Welcome Home and lastly the Round Top Restaurant all in Richfield Springs. In his free time, David, enjoyed the water he loved boating and fishing. He was an avid golfer and most of all loved to have all his family together.
He was a great man and a friend to many and will never be forgotten.
Surviving him is his wife of sixty-four years, Eloise, a son David E. Gravelding and his companion Tamaryn Yoder of Richfield Springs, two daughters; Kim Miller and her husband Paul of West Winfield, Wendy Branigan and her husband Mark of Richfield Springs, eleven grandchildren; Mitchel Sadlon, Jacelyn Kelly, Kayla Sadlon, Cassie Sadlon , Carly Sadlon, Taylor Hill, Tanner Gravelding, Isabelle Gravelding, Sully Gravelding, Hailey Gravelding, Juliann Rivera, Katrina Rivera, five great-grandchildren, Aubrina Gage, Alli Gage, Bryson Kelly, Brynlee Kelly, Callahan Hill ,several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides his parents his was preceded in death by three brothers; his twin Donald, Joseph and James Gravelding.
A graveside service for Mr. Gravelding will be held on Saturday June 13th at 11:00am in Lakeview Cemetery with the Reverend Kyle Grennan officiating.
A celebration of life will be held at the Richfield Springs Vets Club after the services.
