Dennis G. Suhocki

RICHFIELD SPRINGS-Dennis G. Suhocki age 67 passed away in his home after a short illness.  He had the comfort of his loving family at his side.  Dennis was born on July 15, 1952 in Herkimer, son of the late John and Margaret Irene Stiler Suhocki.  A lifelong area resident, he was educated at Owen D. Young Central School and graduated from Richfield Springs High School.  In 1970 he enlisted in the US Navy and had served until 1985.  During his service time he was educated in math and computers at National University of San Diego.  He lived in California for two years before returning to Richfield Springs and starting the Back Road Taxidermy Service which he operated until 2018.  On July 12, 1989 he was united in marriage to the former Diane Slockbower in Richfield Springs.  In his leisure time he was true outdoorsman.  He was an avid hunter and fisherman and found his peace and tranquility in the open fields and forests.  To those who knew him, they would say he was a caring, helpful and hardworking man.  Always ready and willing to do for others while looking for nothing in return.  He will be sadly missed.

He is survived by his devoted wife of thirty years Diane, two sons, Bob Suhocki and his wife Melisa of Mohawk, Wayne Suhocki and his companion Mindy Kayler of Herkimer, a stepdaughter, Vickie Gwozdz and her husband Ron of East Springfield, two step sons John Baker and his companion Heather Helin of Richfield Springs, Jason Baker his wife Mindy of Cherry Valley, one brother, Dale A. Suhocki of Utica, seventeen cherished grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Calling hours for Mr. Suhocki will be on Saturday from 2:00 until 4:00 pm in J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, 40 West James Street; Richfield Springs.  A funeral service will follow immediately after with the Reverend Alan Miller officiating.  Interment with military honors will take place later this spring in Highland Rural Cemetery, Jordanville.  Expressions of sympathy may be made to the ASPCA or the Herkimer County Humane Society.  Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
