RICHFIELD SPRINGS – Dick Wayne Johnson, age 76, of US Highway 20 passed away on Monday, June 22, 2026 in Bassett Medical Center, Cooperstown.
Dick was born June 4, 1950 in Johnson City, a son of the late Lawrence and Elinor Johnston Johnson. He was raised and educated in Harpursville and a graduate of Harpursville High School. On June 14, 1969 he married Beverly Ellerson of Lisle a blessed and loving union of fifty-seven years. Dick and Beverly started dairy farming in Lisle for thirty years before moving to Richfield Springs in 1999, where they owned and operated Money Pit Acres. In his later years, he continued crop farming and he assisted the Amish Community with transportation.
Dick was a hard-working farmer, he enjoyed tinkering with his tractors and he was definitely a John Deere Tractor man. He enjoyed being with his family, he was a friend of many and will never be forgotten.
Surviving are his wife Beverly and his four daughters; Jenny Thomas and her husband Jon of Marathon, Janice Johnson of Herkimer, Katie Clark and her husband Cory of Earlville, Amy Johnson of Richfield Springs. He had eight grandchildren; Natalie and Rylee Thomas, Patty Johnson, Wayne Brown, Austin and Violet Clark, John and Dylan Burditt.
He is one of eight children, survived by his four brothers; Robert Johnson and his wife Anita of Ithaca, Charlie Johnson and his wife Sharon of North Carolina, Steven Johnson and his wife Sherrie of Nineveh, David Johnson and his wife Sherry of Nineveh, three sisters; Beverly Cook and her husband Grover of Bainbridge, Kay Morrow and her husband Richard of Afton, Cindy Banks and her husband Ralph of North Carolina, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours for Mr. Johnson will be held on Tuesday, June 30th, from 5:00-7:00 pm at J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home Inc. 40 West James Street, Richfield Springs. A funeral service will be private and at the convenience of his family.
