JORDANVILLE-Donald Eugene Fahey, age 84, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday morning, February 15, 2023, in Valley Health Services, Inc., Herkimer.

He was born on October 7, 1938 in Cooperstown, son of the late Francis Joseph and Mildred Smith Fahey.  A lifelong area resident he was raised and educated in VanHornesville High School.  On August 22, 1975 he was united in marriage to the former Vanetta Domion in the town of Columbia.  Mr. Fahey worked as a Heavy Equipment Operator and was employed by the town of Warren Highway Department.  He retired in 1991 after fourteen years of dedicated service.  In his leisure time he enjoyed repairing things and spending time outdoors.  He had a natural ability for fixing small and large engines and would be glad to help anyone in need of having their disabled motor fixed.  He had a strong love for dogs and always had one in his home. To all who knew Don, he will  always be remembered as a friendly, caring and helpful man.  He will be sadly missed.

Surviving him are his devoted wife of forty-seven years, Vanetta, three sons, Jeffrey Fahey and his wife Amy of Mohawk, Scott Bramhall of Cape Coral, FL, Loren Bramhall and his wife Angel of Oneonta, two daughters, Donna Samaco and Janet Fahey both of FL, one brother, Bernard Fahey and his wife Janie of VanHornesville, two sisters, Jean Huckabone of Springfield, Marjorie Geukes of MI, along with several grandchildren living in FL and NY, several nieces, nephews and cousins. His closest grandchildren Oliver, Isabella and Finnigan Fahey lovingly referred to him as Papa, and will miss him greatly.  Besides his parents he is preceded in death by a son Mark Bramhall in 1994 and his brother, Robert Fahey in 2020.

A graveside funeral service will be held for Mr. Fahey on Wednesday April 26 in the Springfield Center Cemetery at 1:00pm with the Reverend James Barnes to officiate.  Expressions of sympathy may be made with memorial donations to the Alzheimer's Association of CNY, 5015 Campuswood Dr.  Suite 102 E. Syracuse N.Y. 13057.

Funeral arrangements are with J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home; 40 West James Street, Richfield Springs.
