Donald Melvern Ferguson

RICHFIELD SPRINGS -Donald Melvern Ferguson age 86 passed away on Tuesday evening May 17, 2022 in Bassett Medical Center.  He was born on June 28, 1935 in Frankfort, son of the late Harold F. and Mary H. Geevis Ferguson.  Don was raised and educated in both Richfield Springs and West Winfield. In 1952 he went on to join the United States Marine Corps, serving until he was honorably discharged in 1961.  On November 15, 1958 he was united in marriage to the former Barbara Stickles in Saint John's Episcopal Church in Richfield Springs.  They made their home and raised their family in Richfield Springs.  For thirty-eight years he worked as machinist for the Remington Arms Company in Ilion, retiring in 1999.  To all who knew him will never forget an honest, hardworking and devoted family man. He will be greatly missed.

Surviving are his loving wife of sixty-three years, Barbara, three daughters, and their husbands, Debra and Vincent Gushue of Richfield Springs, Donna and David Jones of West Edmeston, Diane and Larry Bond of Cold Brook, three brothers, Harold Ferguson and wife Lillian of West Winfield, Paul Ferguson of Oakville, Fay Ferguson and wife Cindy of West Winfield, three sisters, Mary Weingard, Fannie Farley both of West Winfield, Esther Garretson and husband James of Cherry Valley, five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins.  Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Ferguson and a sister, Sally Reed.

Funeral service and committal will be held at a later time.  All arrangements were entrusted to the J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, 40 West James Street; Richfield Springs.
