Born December 25, 1925 in Springfield Center; passed comfortably April 15, 2024 in Cooperstown. Dora was the daughter of Alice Pierce Gros and Laurence J. Gros. She graduated from Springfield Central School in 1943.
Dora held many jobs over the years, retiring from the Otsego County DMV office in 1988. She volunteered at Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown, the Richfield Springs and Cooperstown libraries, and the Richfield Springs Food Bank. Dora enjoyed reading, walking, watching sports, especially golf, and spending time with her large extended family.
Dora was predeceased by her big brother William Gros, sisters-in-law Pat and Kris Gros, and Leslie B. Gray, her brother-in-law. She is survived by her older sister Janet Gray of the Clara Welch Thanksgiving Home, and seven very special nieces and nephews who loved and adored her, including William (Wanda) Gray of New Mexico; Peter (Cheryl) Gray of Michigan; Jackie (Scott) Myers of Florida and Virginia; Les T. Gray of Springfield Center; Judy (Jon) Wetsig of Springfield, NY and Florida; Laurie (Dan) Parkinson of Colorado; and Cathie (Don) Ballard of Michigan. She is also survived by numerous great and great-great nieces and nephews, and multiple cousins.
Dora will have a committal service during the first week of July and will be buried in Springfield Center. Those wishing to make a donation are encouraged to consider the Richfield Springs and Springfield Libraries, Helios Care, or a charity of choice.
