Dorothy Padgett

NEW BERLIN – Dorothy Padgett, 96 died May 4, 2022, at the Waterville Residential Care Center.

She was born in Jordanville on January 6, 1926, daughter of the late Martin and Johanna (Lorbetski) Andrecheck.  Dorothy stared her early education in a one room school house and later attended and graduated from Van Hornesville Central School.  She worked in various businesses throughout her life including Bell Telephone Company, Norwich Shoe Company, TACO, and the P&T Variety Store.  Dorothy was a member of St. Theresa's Catholic Church.  Dorothy's enjoyment included sewing, especially making quilts, gardening, picking fruits that were in season and reading.

Her first marriage was to Peter Polichak in 1956.   In 1967, she was united in marriage to James Padgett.  They shared a loving and devoted relationship of 42 years until his passing in May of 2009.

Dorothy is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Joanna and James Johnson of West Edmeston, her son, John Padgett of West Berlin a brother, James Andrecheck and his wife Mary of Richfield Springs, and numerous nieces and nephews.  Besides her parents and husband James, she was predeceased by four brothers, Thomas, Joseph, Robert and Frank , and three sisters, Helen Newell, Frances Ramsey, and Beatrice Kitts.

The Funeral Service will be private and at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours
