Elizabeth “Betty” J. Garner

RICHFIELD SPRINGS – Elizabeth "Betty" J. Garner, age 94, of Lake Street passed away Saturday September 2, 2023 in Little Falls Hospital.

Betty was born on June 20, 1929 in Utica a daughter to the late Milton F. and Catherine L. Geer Bardo. She was raised and educated in Utica graduating from Utica Free Academy with the Class of 1948. On November 24, 1950 she was united in marriage with Jesse Lee Garner, Jr. in Utica.

Betty was genuinely kind and friendly person, a friend who will never be forgotten.

Surviving her are a son Robert Garner and his companion Beth Lewis of Richfield Springs, two daughters; Gail Cortese and her husband Michael of Rome, Kathy Acker and her companion Mike Purcell of Richfield Springs, seven grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins, and beloved kitty Smokey.

Besides her husband Jesse and her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers; LeRoy Bardo and Frank V. Perrone.

Calling hours for Mrs. Garner will be Friday September 8th from 6:00-8:00 pm in J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, 40 West James Street, Richfield Springs. At the conclusion of calling hours a service for Betty will be offered at 8:00pm with words of memories shared by Sue Van Riper.

Expressions of sympathy may be made in her memory with donations to the Richfield Springs Volunteer Fire Department or to the Shriners Childrens Hospital in Springfield, MA.

The family would like to thank Susan March and Pam Lamphere for help, love and care they showed to Betty.
