RICHFIELD SPRINGS – Esther Marie Lamphere, age 82, of East James Street passed away peacefully on Saturday Afternoon December 19, 2020 in her home. She had the comfort of her loving family by her side at the time of her passing.
Esther was born on May 16, 1938 in Little Falls a daughter of the late Burdett and Irene Congdon Balderston. She was raised and educated in Little Falls graduating with the Class of 1956 from St. Mary's Academy. On August 11, 1956 she was united in marriage with Emerson Lamphere, a blessed union of fifty seven years until his passing on February 13, 2013. She was a homemaker dedicating her life to her family. She at one time assisted her husband Emerson on their dairy farm in Jordanville. They later moved to Richfield Springs.
She was one who loved to shop, she enjoyed crafting, was very well known for the cakes she baked, and most of all her beautiful Christmas displays in her home at Christmas time. Esther had a strong belief in God and was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Church in Richfield Springs.
Surviving her is her daughter Patricia Lamphere of Richfield Springs, her sister Irene Panko of Herkimer, four grandchildren Meagan Lamphere of Richfield Springs, Burdett Lamphere of Forest, Virginia, Jenna King of Tupper Lake and Heather Bourg of Norway, Michigan, seven great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides her parents and husband Emerson she was preceded in death by her two sons Douglas Lamphere and James Lamphere.
Calling hours for Mrs. Lamphere will take place Wednesday December 23 rd in J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, 40 West James Street, Richfield Springs from 2:00 until 4:00 pm. A funeral service will follow at 4:00 pm in the funeral home with the Reverend Silvaster Sarihaddula of St. Joseph the Worker Church, officiating .
Expressions of sympathy may be made in the form of donations to the St. Judes Children Research Hospital or the Susquehanna SPCA, envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
