Eugene A. Emrich

RICHFIELD SPRINGS – Eugene A. Emrich, age 80, of Langdon Avenue, passed away peacefully, on Tuesday Morning May 12, 2026.

Eugene was born on April 18, 1946, in Ilion, a son of the late Earl and Helena Johns Emrich. He was raised and educated in Ilion. Eugene was a dairy farmer for quite a few years, then he took up employment as an assembler at Fermer Precision. Lastly working at Steet Ponte Ford in Yorkville. On July 24, 1982, he married the former Elaine Mahardy in the Herkimer Dutch Reformed Church, a blessed union of thirty-five years until her passing on January 3, 2017.

Gene was a communicant of the Church of Christ Uniting. A diehard Yankees fan he and Elaine always watched them on TV, and at one time he enjoyed fishing, he spent many a day doing word puzzles and occasionally had help from his family. Most of all he loved being with his family, especially his great-grandson Jackson.

Surviving him are two stepsons; Thomas Franklin of Schuyler Lake, Timothy Franklin and his wife Katherine of Chadwicks; a stepdaughter Robin Franklin of Ilion, four grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Besides his parents and his wife Elaine he was preceded in death by six brothers; Earl, William, John, Alan, Robert, Gary, six sisters; June, Lois, Catherine, Donna, Shirley, Mary, a grandson Richard Franklin and a great-grandson Jonathan Michael Mead.

Calling hours for Mr. Emrich will be held on Monday from 11:00am to 12:00pm in J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home Inc., 40 West James Street, Richfield Springs. A funeral service to follow at 12:00pm in the funeral home with the Reverend Christine Mitchell, officiating. Burial will take place in Lakeview Cemetery, Richfield Springs.
