Flora Vriesema

SPRINGFIELD – Flora Vriesema, age 89, passed away peacefully on Tuesday evening, June 2, 2020 at Cooperstown Center.  She had the comfort of her family at her side.

She was born on July 13, 1930, in Westtown, a daughter of the late John and Johanna Leentjes Baker.  She was raised and educated in Westtown.

On July 16, 1948, she was united in marriage to Peter Vriesemain Goshen.  They shared a devoted marriage of forty-two yearsuntil his passing on April 30, 1990.

In 1973 Flora and her husband moved their family to the town of Warren establishing the Vrieshill Farm.   As a wife of a farmer she was the matriarch of the family, raising her family with strong Christian values.   She was an active member of Mohawk Reformed Church always lending a helping hand at many of the church activities.

To all who knew Flora they will remember her willingness to help others.  To her family she was the strength that held them together.  In good times and sad, you knew you could lean on her for support and comfort.  She was a friend to many and will be greatly missed.

Surviving are her family, Neal and Carol Vriesema of Clinton, NC, John and Barbara Vriesema of Hartwick Peter Jr. and Trudy Vriesema of Mucksville, NC, a daughter, Johanna Collins and her husband Richard, of the town of Springfield, Stephen and Laurie Vriesema, of West Winfield, a sister Pauline Vriesema, of Mahwah, NJ, eighteen grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, several, great-great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, and cousins.  Besides her parents and husband Peter Sr. she was preceded in death by her brother, Gus Baker in 1991
