RICHFIELD SPRINGS-Gale N. Kimsey age 79, of State Highway 28, passed away peacefully at home.
Gale was born July 7, 1946 in Cooperstown, a son of the late Robert D. and June L. Stapleton Kimsey. He was raised and educated in Richfield Springs and a graduate of Richfield Springs High School. After high school he served our nation with the United States Army. During his time in the Army, he was stationed in Germany. For many years he was a security guard at Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown, retiring in 2007.
He was dedicated to his community, he was a member of the Schuyler Lake Fire Department Emergency Squad. Many times, you would find him out on emergency calls. He was a member of the Richfield Springs Vets Club. He was a coin collector, he enjoyed woodworking, he loved to collect books and especially books on New York History and occasionally he liked to go fishing.
Gale was a friend to many and will never be forgotten.
He is survived by a nephew David DeForest and his wife Sherri of Richfield Springs.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his twin brother Dale.
A graveside service with military honors will be accorded on Tuesday October 28th at 11:00am in Schuyler Lake Cemetery.
Expressions of sympathy may be made with donations in his memory to the Schuyler Lake Volunteer Fire Department, 1490 Co Rd 22, Schuyler Lake, NY 13457
Funeral arrangements are with J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home Inc. 40 West James Street, Richfield Springs.
