HERKIMER – Gary L. Richardson, age 71, passed away on Monday October 2, 2017 in his home.
Gary was born on October 12, 1945 in Herkimer a son to the late Alvin C. and Gertrude Combs Richardson. A lifelong resident, he was born, raised and educated in Herkimer graduating from Herkimer High School with the "Class of 1963". In 1965he enlisted in the United States Army and served our country during The Vietnam Era. For most of his working career he was an assembler in the electronics field, working for General Electric and Trenton Technologies retiring in 2012.
Besides going to car shows and airshows, Gary was a fan of country music especially, Ronnie Smith. He was an avid golfer and was on a golf league at Holland Heights Golf Course. Gary was a really big Yankees fan and loved watching golf as well as NASCAR. When he was home he spent countless hours on yardwork taking great pride in his home. He always made time for his children and grandchildren which he enjoyed so much.He was a great friend to many and will be truly missed.
Surviving him are two daughters; Tammy Baum and her husband Steven of Ilion, Tracy Cunningham and her husband Jeffrey of Herkimer, a brother; Carl Richardson and his wife Judy of Frankfort, five grandchildren; Carli , Alexis and Tyler, Wheelock all of Ilion, Jasmine Beach Cunningham, and Reeve Cunningham both of Herkimer, a special aunt Marion Foster of Richfield Springs, and his former wife, Elaine Farley of Ilion, with whom he remained friends with. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by brothers Gordon Richardson and Harold Richardson.
Calling Hours for Mr. Richardson will be Monday from 5:00 – 7:00 pm in Fenner Funeral Home Inc., 115 Court Street, Herkimer. Funeral service will be private and will take place at the convenience of the family. Expressions of sympathy may be made in memorial donations to the charity of your choice.
