George Ehrmann

RICHFIELD SPRINGS – George Michael Ehrmann, age 88, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 5, 2021 at the Cooperstown Center , Cooperstown .

He was born on July 14, 1932, in Richfield Springs, a son of the late Raymond and Margurite (Hayes) Ehrmann.  Raised and educated in Richfield Springs,  George  played football, baseball and tennis besides excelling  academically.  Upon his graduating from High School he furthered his education  at the Albany College of Pharmacy.  It was there that he met and married the love of life Joyce LaVassaur.   They were married in Tupper Lake on June 5, 1954, sharing a devoted union of nearly sixty years until her passing on June 2, 2015.  For over 50 years he worked as a pharmist.  Thirty-five years in Richfield Springs working with his father . H e then worked in Delhi and later at Little F alls Hospital Pharmacy for twenty years before retiring. George was also active in the community, as a father  of two  boys he volunteered as a coach and cub scout leader, and  a n active member of the Richfield Springs Rotary Club for many years . In his leisure time he enjoyed skiing and was a member of the N ational S ki Patrol . He was also a member of the Cooperstown C ommunity Band .  He will be forever remembered as a kind person with a tremen dous sen se of humor and a gentleman's charm.  He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.

Surviving are his son Eric an d his wife Tam ra of Richfield Springs, five grandchildren, Christopher, Kat ie, Julie, Sarah an d James and their mother Pamela Ehrmann.    Besides his parents and wife Joyce he was preceded in death by a son Gregory as well as his siblings.

Calling hours for Mr. Ehrmann will be held on Monday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, 40 WSest J ames Street, Richfield Springs, Funeral Service and interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
