MOHAWK – Gregory L. Goodale, age 75, passed away peacefully on Sunday Afternoon August 16, 2026 in Albany Medical Center.
Greg was born on October 23, 1950 in Ilion, a son to the late Ward and Winifred Murdock Goodale. He was raised and educated in Richfield Springs and a graduate of Richfield Springs High School. He was a Heavy Equipment Operator for many years working for various constructions firms finishing with Lancaster Development in Richmondville, retiring in 2014. On October 14, 1978 he married the former Denise Gage in Ilion a blessed and loving union of forty-seven years.
He was an avid outdoorsman, he liked fishing, duck and goose hunting, holding memberships with the Ilion, Richfield Springs and Burlington Flats Fish and Game Clubs. He enjoyed target shooting, trap and skeet shooting. At one time he rode motorcycles and went golfing. He was a family man who enjoyed being with his family especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was a friend to many and will never be forgotten.
Besides his wife Denise he is survived by two sons; Zachary Goodale and his wife Lauren of Mohawk, Braden Goodale and his wife Rebecca of West Winfield, a daughter Heidi Bond and her husband Stephen of Richfield Springs, a sister Sherry Garnsey of Richfield Springs, five grandchildren Katelynn Worobey and her husband Tom, Emily Bond, Ted Goodale, Julia Goodale, Layne Goodale, two great-grandchildren Nora and Elouise, in-laws; Cindy Latt, Lorrie Robertson, Darlene “Dar” Cagwin, Randy and Beth Gage, Dean and Tina Gage as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by two brothers Ward Goodale and Terry Goodale, and a sister Sally Kessler.
Calling hours for Mr. Goodale will be on Sunday August 23rd from 2:00 until 4:00 pm with a funeral service to follow at 4:00 pm in J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home Inc., 40 West James Street, Richfield Springs, with the Reverend Daniel Hoogheem to officiate. Burial to take place Monday, August 24th at 11:00 am, in Columbia Center Dutch Reformed Cemetery.
Expressions of sympathy may be made in his memory with donations to Ducks Unlimited, One Waterfowl Way, Memphis, TN 38120.
