RICHFIELD SPRINGS-Helen Elizabeth (Bette)  Guardi, age 94, passed away peacefully on Sunday afternoon May 23, 2021, in Bassett Medical Center, Cooperstown, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on March 19, 1927 in Flint, Michigan, daughter of the late George F. and Mary A. Servatius Goering.  Helen was raised in Westmoreland and was a graduate of Westmoreland High School class of 1945 and furthered her education at SUNY Plattsburg.  On February 7, 1948 she was united in marriage to Giocomo Guardi in Annunciation Parish in Clark Mills.  They made their home in Sauquoit before moving to Richfield Springs.  Mrs. Guardi had a strong faith in God and was a member of Saint Joseph the Worker RC Church in Richfield Springs.  Helen at one time worked at the Dimon 5 & 10 Store in Richfield Springs,  She also Ran the Hillcrest Green Gardens and later Guardis Produce Stand where she grew and sold organic vegetables.  She retired in 1998.  In her leisure time she enjoyed crocheting , reading and doing crossword puzzles.  To all who knew her will never forget the warmth and caring person that she was to everyone she met.  She will be sadly missed.

Surviving are one son Jude Thaddeus of Richfield Springs, two daughters, Darlene Wolford and her husband Paul of Mohawk, Gina Thompson of Salisbury Center, a sister Patricia Weis and her husband William of Quartside, AZ, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and several great great-grandchildren along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.  Besides her parents and husband Giocomo, she was preceded in death by a son, James Anthony Guardi, two daughters, Joanne Schramm and Nancy Renwick and a brother, Robert Goering.

Calling hours for Mrs. Guardi will be on Wednesday from 5:00 until 7:30 pm in J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, 40 West James Street; Richfield Springs.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday morning at 10:00 am in Saint Joseph the Worker RC Church, Richfield Springs with the Reverend Brian Lehnert officiating.  Interment will follow in Saint Joseph's Cemetery.  Expressions of sympathy may be made with memorial donations to HELIOS Care and Compassion Choices and Dignity, 927 River Service Rd, Oneonta, NY 138201
