CHERRY VALLEY – Howard Patrick Grimm, age 69 passed away peacefully on December 26, 2021 at Basset Medical Center, Cooperstown. He was born on November 20, 1952, in Oneida, a son of the late Clark and Florence (Lord) Grimm. Raised and educated in Verona he graduated High School from VVS. In 1972 he enlisted in the US Army and proudly served his country until 1975. He was honorably discharged from the Reserves on March 21, 1978. On May 26, 1979, he was united in marriage to the former Eloise Kenyon, in Constableville. They have lived in Cherry Valley since 1986.
His enjoyment of cars lead him to a career in car detailing. For over 10 years he worked for Skinner – Damulis, Richfield Springs. He later worked for Lewin's and then Walmart in Cobleskill.
Howard was a devoted family man, he was known for his quick wit and practical jokes especially with his family. In his leisure time he enjoyed working on old cars and trucks. He was a kind man always willing to help others. He will be truly missed by his family and friends.
Surviving are his wife of Eloise of 43 years, a son Kalvin Grimm and his wife Kimberly of Cherry Valley, a daughter, Kimberly "Sissy" Grimm-Felski and her wife Sandra, of Richfield Springs, his twin brother Harold of Rome and brother Duane Grimm of Verona,, one sister Margaret Saunders of Clinton, seven grandchildren with another little one on the way in April, two aunts, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Howard Robert Grimm.
Calling hours in J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, 40 West James Street, Richfield Springs, will be on Sunday January 2, 2022 from 11:00 am until 1:00pm. Funeral service with sharing of memories will take place in the funeral home at 1:00pm following the calling hours. A private Interment with military honors will be held next spring.
