RICHFIELD SPRINGS – James, K. Patrick, age 80, of Richfield Springs, passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning November 7, 2017, at St. Elizabeth's Medical Center, Utica. He had the comfort of knowing his devoted family was at his side.
He was born on January 19, 1937, in Cooperstown, a son of the late Robert and Irene (Conkey) Patrick. A lifelong Richfield Springs resident he attended Richfield Springs Central School. He joined the US Airforce in 1957 and was honorably discharged on April 5, 1960. His first marriage was to Hazel Bergess. On May 31, 1970, he married Mildred (Myra) Marriott. She passed away on September 9, 2005.
For over 20 years Jim worked as a truck driver for R.B. Humphreys in New Hartford. He retired after over twenty years of service in 1995. After his retirement he continued working delivering newspapers for the Oneonta Daily Star as well as the Utica Observer-Dispatch, retiring in 2006. His Christian faith was devoted to his attendance at the Norwich Corners Christian Church of Sauquoit. He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion of Richfield Springs and a member of the Richfield Springs Volunteer Fire Department. Jim's leisure time was spent doing jig-saw puzzles, watching old John Wayne movies and making plastic model cars. He was a loyal friend to many and will be sorely missed.
Surviving are his children, Michael Patrick, Richard, Marriott, Robert Marriott and his wife Kathleen, Rudy Marriott, a daughter Debra LaVeck all of Richfield Springs, two brothers, Ray Patrick and his wife Marilyn of Richfield Springs, Richard Patrick and his wife Carolyn of West Winfield, one sister Janice Rathbun of Oneonta, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his parents and wife Myra, he was preceded in death by three sons David, Donald and Randy, two daughters Susan Wood and Carol Miller, and his sisters Joann Ward and Joyce Peplinski.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday at 11:00 am in J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, 40 West James Street, Richfield Springs. Reverend Walter Wharram, Jr. pastor of the Norwich Corners Christian Church will officiate. Interment will follow in Lakeview Cemetery, Richfield Springs. The family will be present in the funeral home on Friday evening from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. to receive relatives and friends.
