RICHFIELD SPRINGS – James R. Seamon, age 88, of Hyder Road passed away peacefully on Monday EveningNovember 13, 2023 in Bassett Medical Center, Cooperstown after a short illness.
James was born on July 17, 1935 in the Town of Exeter, a son of the late Louis and Martha Domion- Seamon. He was raised and educated in Richfield Springs. James was a self-employed Dairy Farmer on his own farm, later on he worked in construction. He specialized in building fence and laying block. He was a very hard-working simple man, who kept mostly to himself. In his younger years he loved to go snowmobiling, as he got older, he enjoyed working with his honeybees and tending to his plentiful garden. He also was an avid hunter always on the rut seeking that magical buck. He loved cutting wood the old-fashioned way, and you could find him from time to time riding his Harley.
He was a friend too many and he will never be forgotten.
Surviving him are two sons; Richard Seamon, Sr. and his wife Tammy, Randy Seamon and his wife Lori both of Richfield Springs, two daughters; Cindy Ferguson and her Husband Fay of West Winfield, Pam Miller and her husband Jim of Richfield Springs, two brothers Herb Seamon of Cooperstown and Grant Seamon and his wife Joan of Richfield Springs, a sister Elizabeth Collins of Jordanville, fourteen grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by four brothers Louis, Jr., Lee, Howard, and Merton Seamon, and two sisters Rose Zenner and Virginia Horner.
Services for Mr. Seamon will be held later this spring.
The family would like to thank the Richfield Springs Volunteer Fire Department Rescue Squad, and the staff at Bassett Medical Center for all the care they had shown to James. Expressions of Sympathy in James memory may be made in donations to the Richfield Springs Volunteer Fire Department.
Funeral arrangements are with J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, Richfield Springs.
