RICHFIELD SPRINGS – John Ross Brewer age 76 went to be with the Lord on Tuesday evening November 1 6, 2021 while being where he loved to be in the woods . He was born on June 14, 1945 in Ilion, son of t he late Ross G. and Mary E. Barg er Brewer. A lifelong resident, he was a graduate of Moha wk High School C lass of 1964. On July 3 , 1965 he was united in marriage to the former Carol A nn Frazier in Saint Joseph's Church in Richfield Springs . They made their home in Columbia Center for 50 years. For over thirty years John was employed by Remington Arms Compa ny in Ilion. He retired in 2004. John was a true believer in Jesus Christ and was a member of the Christian Bible Church in Mohawk where he served as a D eacon of the church. In his leisure time, John h ad a love for the out doors and enjoyed hunting. To all who knew him will never forget a caring, faithful, strong and giving man. He was always there to lend a helping hand while looking for nothing in return. Any conversation s with him were straight and to the point, yet you always felt his warmth and friendship whenever you were with him. He was loved by all and will be sadly missed.
He is survived by his loving wife of fif t y-six years Carol, one brother, James Brewer and wife Phyllis of Ilion, three sisters, Ann Moschetto and husband Dick of Ilion, Linda Snyder of Ili on, Cindy Edmunds of Mohawk , b rother-in-law Robert Frazier and wife Donna of Chehalis, WA and sister-in-law Vicki Bronner of West Winfi eld and many nieces and nephews. John was also blessed to have special nephews Jeff Eys aman and Mary and Robert Eys aman; also to have Jeremy and Sarah Seamon and kids along with the entire Shaw family in his life . Carol and family would like to extend a special thank you to Mike Baldwin, MOVAC, and the Cedarville Fire Department for their services and kindness.
Calling hours for John will be on Saturday from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm in Fenner Funeral Home, Inc., 115 Court Street , Herkimer. A funeral service will follow immediately after in the funeral home .
Pastor Ed Reed and Pastor Roger Smith will officiate. Interment will be in North Columbia Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may be made with memorial donations to the Christian Bible Church, PO Box 273, 167 Ward Road; Mohawk, NY 13407. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
