Joseph A. Duncan

RICHFIELD SPRINGS – Joseph A. Duncan, age 61, of Union Street passed away on Wednesday  Evening January 8, 2025 in his home. He had the loving comfort of his family by his side at the time of his passing.

Joe was born December 25, 1963 In Ilion a son of the late Frank and Shirley Slater Duncan, Sr. he was raised and educated in Herkimer. Joe was a radiator repair specialist with Canfield Radiator Shop in Herkimer later on he became a self employed carpenter. On August 3, 1985 he married the former Joyce L. Brown in Cooperstown a blessed and loving of thirty- seven years until her passing on March 9, 2023.

Joe loved being with his family, he also enjoyed playing guitar, fixing cars, and of course spoiling his grandchildren.

He was a friend to many and will never be forgotten.

He is survived by his son Dwayne Duncan and his companion Jennifer Brown of Richfield Springs, a daughter Joanie Duncan of Richfield Springs,  two stepsons; Jason Failing and his wife Mindy of Herkimer and Neil Failing of Herkimer, a stepdaughter Lisa Alukonis of Mohawk, a brother Frank Duncan, Jr. and his wife Teena of Roseboom, a sister Dawn Covey of Ilion, eight grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and cousin.

Besides his parents and loving wife Joyce he was preceded in death by three brothers; Steven, David and Jim Duncan, and a sister Terry Kilts.

Calling hours for Mr. Duncan will be on Monday from 3:00 until 5:00 pm, with a funeral service to follow in J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, 40 West James Street, Richfield Springs. Burial will take place privately and at the convenience of his family.
