Josephine Yerdon

RICHFIELD SPRINGS-Josephine Yerdon, age 88, passed away peacefully on Monday January 30, 2023, in Crouse Irving Hospital, Syracuse after a short illness. She had the support and comfort of her loving family at her side. She was born on November 24, 1934, in Clifton, New Jersey, daughter of the late John and Mary Langow Hugick.  Josephine was raised in Richfield Springs and was a graduate of Richfield Springs High School.  She furthered her education, graduating from the Utica School of Commerce.  She was employed for twenty-one years as a mail clerk with the Tandy Company (Radio Shack) in Fort Worth, Texas.  She retired in 1984.   In 2017 she moved to Hastings, NY, to be with her daughter Valerie.  Mrs. Yerdon had a strong faith in God and led a devoted Catholic life.  In her leisure time she was an avid reader and a devoted football fan.  She followed many NFL teams every season.  She was also an animal lover.  Josephine will always be remembered as loving, caring and helpful lady.  She was happiest when she was surrounded by her friends and family, especially her cherished grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She will be sadly missed.

Surviving her are two daughters and their spouses, Cynthia and Ralph Sikes of Fort Worth, TX, Valerie and Kathy Beaubien-Yerdon of Hastings, a brother, Jon Hugick of Richfield Springs, two sisters, Barbara Burmam and her husband Ross of Kirkville, Martha Hugick of Richfield Springs, three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren several nieces, and cousins.

A graveside service will be celebrated later this spring at Lakeview Cemetery.  Expressions of sympathy may be made with memorial donations to a charity of your choice.  Funeral arrangements are with J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, 40 West James Street; Richfield Springs.
