Joyce L. Duncan

RICHFIELD SPRINGS – Joyce L. Duncan, age 63, of Union Street passed away peacefully on Thursday March 9, 2023 in her home. She had the loving comfort of her family by her side at the time of her passing.

She was born on September 2, 1959 in Herkimer a daughter of the late Harry and Alice Strobeck Brown, Sr.  She was raised and educated in the Mohawk Valley area, and she attended West Canada Valley Schools. On August 3, 1985 she married Joseph Duncan in Cooperstown, a blessed and loving union of thirty seven years. They have resided in Richfield Springs since 2006 coming from Frankfort.

Joyce was a homemaker, and she was truly dedicated to her family. She loved watched movies, sometimes you would find singing and dancing around the house. Joseph and Joyce enjoyed traveling, camping and having family cookouts. When it came to family, she loved being with family but Joyce was all about the grandchildren, they always came first and foremost.

She was truly a friend to many and will never be forgotten.

Besides her husband Joseph, she is survived by three sons; Jason Failing and his wife Mindy of Herkimer, Neil Failing of Herkimer and Dwayne Duncan of Richfield Springs, two daughters; Lisa Alukonis and her companion Luke Gage of Mohawk and Joanie Duncan of Richfield Springs, eight grandchildren; Roxy Duncan, Natasha Duncan, Sahvanna Mayr, Sahlenna Failing,  JJ Duncan, Kyra Santana, Stephanie Brown, Dakota Gage, many brothers and sisters, along with nieces, nephews and cousins.

Calling hours for Mrs. Duncan will be Wednesday March 15 ^th from 2:00pm – 4:00 pm in J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, 40 West James Street, Richfield Springs. Upon the conclusion of calling hours at 4:00pm a funeral service will take place, with Pastor David Simonds officiating. Interment will be private and take place at a time convenient to the family.
