June H. Gus

RICHFIELD SPRINGS – June H. Gus, age 78, of Monticello Street, passed away Wednesday Morning September 23, 2026, in Bassett Medical Center, Cooperstown.

June was born on June 10, 1948 in Amsterdam, she was raised and educated in Fort Plain, after High School she attended college. For many years she worked as a medical secretary and later for Otsego County Department of Social Services. In 1971 she married Thomas Gus in the Cooperstown United Methodist Church, a blessed and loving union of fifty-five years.

Family was very important to June; she loved being with her children and especially her grandchildren buying them anything they needed. She enjoyed watching birds, hummingbirds and she dearly loved cardinals. She loved spending time thrift store shopping and buying anything that was silver especially silver bengals. When it came to television she spent many hours watching game shows. June loved tending to her garden and enjoyed the sounds of wind chimes. Occasionally she liked crocheting, doing crossword puzzles and find a word puzzles. She also liked to read mystery books.

Surviving her are husband Thomas, a son Thomas Gus, Jr. and his wife Amanda of Hartwick, a daughter Pamela Macias and her husband Luis of West Oneonta, two grandchildren Trenton Gus and Katelyn Macias, several nieces, nephews, cousins and her beloved cat Tucker..

She preceded in death by her mother Helen Delaney.

Calling hours for Mrs. Gus will be on Sunday September 27th, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm in J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home Inc., 40 West James Street, Richfield Springs. A funeral service to follow at 4:00pm with the Reverend Christine Mitchell of the Church of Christ Uniting, Richfield Springs, officiating.

Expressions of Sympathy may be made in donations to the Bassett Hospital Dialysis Unit; envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
