Laurence Contreni

RICHFIELD SPRINGS – Laurence Carlton Contreni , age 73, formerly of Andes, NY, passed away peacefully on Monday e vening, July 18, 2022 in his home with his loving family at his side. Larry was born on January 17, 1949 in Englewood, NJ , the third of seven children of John J. and Elfriede ( Hille ) Contreni , Sr. He was raised in New Jersey and graduated from Pascack Hills High School in Montvale in 1967. In the 1970s he and his family moved to Andes.  He owned and operated the Arkville County Store until his retirement . In 2004 he moved to Richfield Springs and began work in h uman r esources with the Cooperstown Dreams Park as a valued team member until recently.

La rry was a kind and gentle man who was devoted to his family. He was a people person and a fixer and doer who always had a project underway. He was a special person with a wry sense of humor who will live on in the memories of the people he touched.

Surviving are three brothers John J. Contreni , Jr. and his wife Marg arita , of Green ville, ME, Richard Contreni of Salem, VA, S tephen Contreni and his wife Eileen of Red Hook, two sisters, Lorraine Sweetman and her husband John of Ilion , Michele Contreni of Richfield Springs with whom he made his home. He leaves many nieces, nephews , several grandnieces and nephews , and cousins. He doted on his siblings' children.

Besides his pare n ts he was preceded in death by a sister Claire Call in 2003.

Interment in Andes cemetery will be private .  There are no calling hours.
