SPRAKERS - Norma Joyce "Joy" Harrison, 94, passed away peacefully in the early hours of December 5, 2024 while in the loving care of her daughter, Linda Hunt, of Sprakers, NY.
Mrs. Joy (or Grandma Joy as she was fondly known by her grandchildren) was born on January 7, 1930 in Montgomery County, PA to Francis Parker and Erma Marie Joralemon. She grew up in New Jersey as the youngest of three children. While attending State University of New York at Farmingdale, she met her future husband, Richard Arthur Harrison.
She married Richard on October 26, 1950, and they raised their five daughters together on a horse farm in Oxford, NY. In 1987, they moved to Richfield Springs to live in a beautiful home on the lake that became a place of many treasured family memories, especially for her grandchildren.
She enjoyed traveling with her husband in their motorhome across the U.S. Her hobbies included gardening, reading, swimming, and playing dominoes, card games, and puzzles with family and friends.
She is survived by her daughters, Linda Hunt of Sprakers, NY; Loretta (Larry) McGowan of Oxford, NY; Betty Lou (Paul) Miller of Jacksonville, FL; and Nancy (Johnny) Miller of Clinton, TN, seven grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Arthur Harrison; parents, Francis Parker and Erma Marie Joralemon; brother, Francis Parker "Bud" Joralemon, Jr.; sister, Miriam Louise Leggett; daughter, Patricia Ann Harrison; son-in-law, Paul Hunt; and grandson, Stephen Paul Miller.
A Funeral Service for Mrs. Harrison will be Held on Friday December 13th at 11;00am in the Faith Bible Church, 108 Crosby Road, Sprakers, with Pastor Mark Kelly officiating. Burial to take place on Thursday May 8th at 11:30am in Lakeview Cemetery, Richfield Springs.
Expressions of sympathy may be made in her memory with donations to the Faith Bible Church.
Funeral arrangements are with J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home 40 West James Street, Richfield Springs.
