RICHFIELD SPRINGS – Richard W. Worden, age 85, of State Highway 20 passed away on Sunday May 18, 2025 in Bassett Medical Center, Cooperstown.

Dick was born on August 2, 1939 in Mohawk, a son to the late Leonard S. and Mildred M. Day Worden. He was raised and educated in Richfield Springs graduating with the "Class of 1957" from Richfield Springs High School. After high school, Dick served Our Nation in the United States Army from 1957 until 1960, then serving with the Army Reserves until 1965. On May 2, 1959, he married the former Beatrice E. Chase in Morris, a blessed union of sixty-six years. Richard was a printer, he first worked for the Herkimer Evening Telegram then later with Remington Arms in Ilion retiring in 1999.

Richard had very strong belief in God and was a member of the Richfield Springs Bible Church, he served as a Deacon and as the Church Treasurer. In his spare time he help his son Rick with the antique store in Richfield Springs, he enjoyed garage sales and buying antiques as well as selling them. He was a big collector of Looney Tunes Glasses from the 1970's as promotional items from McDonald's and Burger King. He was a member of the Schuyler Lake and Richfield Springs Historical Associations.

Dick was always there to help anyone he was a friend to many and will never be forgotten.

Besides his wife Beatrice he is survived by his son Rick Worden, Jr. of Richfield Springs, a daughter Diana Parsons and her husband James of Greentown, Pennsylvania, a brother Leonard Worden of Salisbury, two sisters; Emily Worden of New Lisbon, Grace Worden of New Lisbon, two grandsons; William Edward Parson of Greentown, Pennsylvania, Richard Edward Parsons and his wife Caitlin of Greentown, Pennsylvania, many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a brother Lawrence Worden, three sisters, Mary Myers, Beverly Mallette and Nancy Lou Lawton.

The family will be present in the Richfield Springs Bible Church, Church Street, Richfield Springs on Friday May 30th from 10:00 to 11:00am. A funeral service to follow at 11:00am with the Pastor Richard Unger to officiate.

Expressions of sympathy may be made with donations to Richfield Springs Historical Association & Museum, envelopes will be available at the church.

Funeral arrangements are with J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home Inc., 40 West James Street, Richfield Springs.
