Robert A. Llewellyn Nov. 22, 1960 - March 19, 2021

On Friday, March 19, Robert A. Llewellyn of Millers Mills , father, farmer, welder, and adventurer, passed away at age 60.

Robert was born at an undisclosed location in Madison County, NY, on Nov. 22, 1960, to Al and Judy Llewellyn. He grew up a wild child, the youngest of six, in Richfield Springs, where he graduated high school in 1978. He joined the U.S. Navy while still 17 and traveled the world – crossing north into the Arctic Circle and south across the Equator. While serving his four years, he visited Central America, western Europe, the Middle East and Africa, and loved telling stories about those journeys.

After leaving the Navy, he worked on both his uncle's dairy farm and for the NYS Thruway Authority. He married Susan M. Stanley in 1984 and soon after came his three children, Courtney, Derek, and Kyle. He passed his love of adventure down to them, ensuring they experienced as much of the world as he could give them.

Robert loved travel and riding his motorcycle, watching NASCAR, solving crossword puzzles, and spending an entire three-day weekend on Bourbon Street. He was a collector of experiences. He had a laugh and a mustache like Burt Reynolds. He always knew what to not quite say.

He is survived by his partner, Phyllis Cady, along with his children and their partners, Dylan Hopkins, Jason Bertrand and Katlyn Beebe Llewellyn. He is also survived by his sister Karen, his brother s Kendall and David, and nieces and nephews spanning the States.

No service will be held. Instead, Robert requested donations be made in his honor to the Herkimer County Humane Society.
