Ronald J. Duncan

RICHFIELD SPRINGS -Ronald J. Duncan, age 66, of Elm Street, passed away peacefully on Monday Evening August 24, 2026. He had the comfort of his loving family by his side at the time of his passing.

Ronald was born June 16, 1960 in Ilion, a son of the late Howard J. and Dorothy R. Haggerty Duncan. He was raised and educated in Richfield Springs. For many years he worked Maintenance at the Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown. On May 12, 2012, he married the former Carole Mitchell in Richfield Springs a loving union of fourteen years.

He was a member of the Cherry Valley Game Club, he loved the outdoors especially hunting, bow hunting and fishing. He was woodworker, enjoyed playing cards and painting pictures. He attended Indian Pow Wows at the Saint Kateri National Shrine. Family was first and foremost to Ron, he loved spending time with his grandchildren.

He was a friend to many and will never be forgotten.

Surviving him are his wife Carole, two sons; Marty Duncan and his wife Natalie of Florida, James Duncan of Cherry Valley, three daughters; Cari Donahue and her husband Chad of Mohawk, Kim Hale and her husband Alex of Ilion, Andrea Sanders and her husband Brandon of Cherry Valley, one brother Dennis Duncan of Herkimer, four sisters; Linda Groetken and her husband Neil of Iowa, Ramona Smith and her husband Les of Richfield Springs, Doreen Mang of Binghamton, Jean Tilbe and her husband Robin of Bridgewater, six grandchildren; Blake Donahue, Brody Donahue, Kiley Donahue, Zandyr Hale, Taryn Hale, Isaac Sanders, a step-son Ronald Major, Jr., step grandson Connor Steenburg, many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Calling Hours for Mr. Duncan will take place on Sunday August 30th, from 2:00-4:00pm in J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home Inc., 40 West James Street, Richfield Springs, a funeral service to follow calling hours at 4:00pm.
