Ronald W. Ragantesi

SPRINGFIELD CENTER-Ronald W. Ragantesi, age 66, of Hinds Road passed away on Sunday evening August 23, 2026 in his home with his son and daughter in-law by his side.

Ronald was born November 15, 1959 in Long Beach, California, a son of the late Lindsey and Jerianne Thursby. He was raised as a military child, primarily in California, but then with moving from place to place he finished his High School degree in Sicily when he enter the Navy, he enlisted in the United States Navy, serving from 1977-1985. Moving to VanHornesville in 1989 he established his home with his son Jonathan. As Jonathan started his own family, he moved to Hinds Road in Springfield Center. He held many jobs, but his main duties were working in the Goldmine and Pumice mine, to then getting into construction work finishing concrete to being an equipment operator, then later finishing out his years as a Green Thumb at the New York State Fish Hatchery in VanHornesville.

Ron enjoyed social drinking with his friends and family. He enjoyed a good movie with a glass of milk with ice. He loved spending time with his immediate family watching his grandchildren succeed. He enjoyed backyard fires, telling stories and cutting up deer in the garage with his son Jonathan.

He was a friend to many and will never be forgotten.

Surviving him are his son Jonathan Ragantesi and his significant other Shandal Crouch of VanHornesville, a stepson Gregory Steenburg of Mohawk, a brother Gerald Ragantesi of California, Linda Hartman and her husband Bob of Colorado, three grandchildren Gabriella and Lathan Ragantesi and Bella Steenburg, several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Calling hour for Mr. Ragantesi will be on Friday August 28th from 11:00am to 12 noon in J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home Inc., 40 West James Street, Richfield Springs, a funeral service to follow at Noon with the Reverend Brian Lehnert to officiate. Burial with Navy Honors to take place in VanHornesville Cemetery.
