RICHFIELD SPRINGS -Sandra Faye Wilbert age 78 passed away peacefully on Friday evening June 25, 2021 in Bassett Medical Center , Cooperstown. She had the support and comfort of her loving family at her side. Sandra was born on May 15, 1943 in Utica, daughter of the late Palmer and Alice Savage Sherman. A lifelong area resident , s he was raised and educated in Sauquoit . On June 22, 1974 she was united in marriage to Lyle Wilbert in Bridgewater. They shared a loving and devoted union of forty years until his passing on April 16, 2014. To all who knew Sandy they will always remember what an active and busy lady she was. She worked for over ten years at Shur-Catch in Richfield Springs as well as General Electric in Utica, Waterville Knitting Mill in Waterville and the Price Chopper Grocery Store in Richfield Springs. She retired in 2011. Mrs. Wilbert was a member of the Richfield Springs Vets Club Ladies Auxiliary. In her leisure time she enjoyed cooking and baking for her family. She was happiest when she was surrounded by her cherished grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be sadly missed.
Surviving her are three sons, Dean Wratten and his wife Jenna, Todd Wratten all of Milford, John Wratten and his wife Lynda of Paines Hollow, five grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren , step children Sue Behr, Kim Soule, John Maine, sister-in-law Deana Sheldon, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents and husband Lyle she was preceded in death by a son, Robert "Bobby" Sherman , step-children, Patty Zaccagnino , Jeff Wilbert, and a brother, Charles "Chuck" Sherman.
A graveside service for Mrs. Wilbert will be held at Twilight Cemetery, Monticello, on Saturday July 10 th at 11:00 a. m. with the Reverend James Barnes pastor of the Van Hornesville United Methodist Church will officiate. Expressions of sympathy may be made with memorial donations to the American Cancer Society, 110 Lomond Court, Utica, NY 13502.
Funeral arrangements are with J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, Richfield Springs.
