Sarah Louise Wilcox

Exeter - Sarah Louise Wilcox, age 76, passed away after an extended illness on Sunday morning March 8, 2020, at the home of her daughter in Oneonta.  She had the support and comfort of her loving family at her side.

She was born on January 22, 1944, in Cooperstown, daughter of the late Clinton Sr. and Elizabeth Duncan Sparks.  Sarah was raised and educated in Schuyler Lake.  On January 26, 1963 she was united in marriage to Francis L. Wilcox in Hunter, NY.  He passed away on October 11, 2004.  For many years Mrs. Wilcox worked outside the home.  She was a waitress for the Empire Diner in Herkimer and the Otesaga Hotel in Cooperstown, she was a health aide at the Bella Vista Nursing Home in Richfield Springs and had worked for Figurine Statuary on US Highway 20.  She retired in 1987.  Sarah had a strong belief in God and led a devoted Christian life.  In her later years she volunteered for Senior Meals in Richfield Springs.  Mrs. Wilcox will forever be remembered as a loving, hopeful and caring lady.  To her family she was always there for them in good times or bad.  She will be truly missed.

Surviving her are two sons, Richard Wilcox and his wife Lisa of Schuyler Lake, Delbert Wilcox of Otego, two daughters, Pauline Key of Butler, NC, Eva Garbera and her husband Charles of Otego, a brother Clinton Sparks, Jr. and his wife Vivian of Schuyler Lake, two sisters, Isabelle Moynihan of Ilion, Cathleen Ervin of Mohawk, ten grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins.  Besides her parents and husband Francis she was preceded in death by a sister Virginia Hruby.

Calling hours for Mrs. Wilcox will be on Thursday from 4:00 until 6:00 pm in J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, 40 West James Street; Richfield Springs.  A funeral service will follow immediately after a 6:00 pm in the funeral home.  Interment will take place later this spring in Schuyler Lake Cemetery.
