SCHUYLER LAKE- Shirley Curry, age 97 formerly of Schuyler Lake and Richfield Springs passed away peacefully on July 25, 2025 at the Cooperstown Center where she had resided for the past 3 years.  At the time of her passing she had the love and comfort of her family by her side.

Shirley was born August 13, 1927, in Utica, a daughter to the late Charles E. and Mary O'Connor Brady.  She was raised and educated in Waterville and a graduate of Waterville High School with the Class of 1945. On September 18, 1948, she married Herman Curry in Waterville, a blessed union of fifty one years until his passing on January 7, 2000. Shirley was a homemaker who took great pride in raising her family.

She was an avid reader, she enjoyed bowling, traveling, snowshoeing, gardening, growing flowers and vegetables. She loved to be with her family. When she traveled, she visited many places including Florida, Cape Cod and Canada.

She was a friend to many and will be truly missed.

Surviving her are two sons; Gregory Curry and his wife Maryann of Milford, William Curry and his wife Diane of Mt. Vision, a daughter Diane Thompson and her spouse Richard Wright of Cold Brook, five grandchildren; Amy Fiozzo and her husband Frank of Vermont, Colleen Dye and her husband Matthew of Rochester, Justin Curry of Oneonta, Melissa McMahon and her husband Nolan of Saratoga Springs, six great-grandchildren; Mia Fiozzo, Sophia Fiozzo, Ava Fiozzo, Ethan Dye, Madeleine Dye, and Rickelle Wright, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents and husband Herman, she was preceded in death by four sisters; Mary "Louise" Acker, Gertrude Dwyer, Marguerite Campbell, and Loretta "Anne" Ford and a son-in-law Mark Thompson.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Curry will be celebrated on Monday August 4 th at 9:30am in St. Joseph the Worker Church, 35 Canadarago Street, Richfield Springs, with the Reverend Brian Lehnert as Celebrant. Burial to follow in Schuyler Lake Cemetery.

The family kindly asks in lieu of floral tributes please consider a donation in her memory to the Richfield Springs Fire Department or Schuyler Lake Fire Department.

Shirley's family is deeply grateful for the loving care shown to their mother by the staff at the Cooperstown Center.  A special thank you to Mary Jo whose friendship and care Mom admired greatly.

Funeral arrangements are with J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home Inc. 40 West James Street, Richfield Springs.
