Thomas L Wilson, Sr.

RICHFIELD SPRINGS – Thomas L. Wilson, Sr. age 86 of West James Street , passed away on Tuesday May 9, 2023 in his home. He had the loving comfort of his family by his side at the time of his passing.

He was born on June 12, 1936 in Smith Basin, a son to the late Claude L. and Dorothy V. Davis Wilson he was raised and educated in Hudson Falls. Then his family moved to Richfield Springs in 1953 where he finished his education graduating from Richfield Springs High School.  Thomas served our nation in the National Guard. On March 2, 1955 he married the former Helen A. Skinner in the Methodist Church Parsonage a blessed union of sixty eight years. He was an Automotive Technician and worked for many car dealerships Beadle Chevrolet and Smith Ford in Richfield Springs, later for Don's Ford in Utica lastly for Smith Ford in Cooperstown.  Tom loved to golf, he enjoyed his winters in Florida, and most of all he loved his dogs. He was member of the Richfield Springs Veterans Club, the Church of Christ Uniting in Richfield Springs, and considered himself to be a Winter Baptist when he was in Florida attending the Lulu Baptist Church.

He was truly a friend to many and will never be forgotten.

Surviving him are his wife Helen, two sons Thomas L. Wilson, Jr. of Waterville, James Wilson of Ocala, Florida, three daughters; Debra Dickenson and her husband Wendell of Hubbardsville, Cynthia Bond of Lake Butler, Florida, Dianna Courson and her husband David of  Lake Butler, Florida a brother Donald Wilson of Delray, Florida and a sister Joyce Zvirzdin of Richfield Springs, twenty grandchildren, thirty one great grandchildren, eight great-great grandchildren many nieces, nephews and cousins, lastly to mention Philip Bond, Jr. his exceptionally close grandson.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by four brothers Raymond, Harold, Stanley and Claude Wilson and a sister Jean Earing.

Calling hours for Mr. Wilson will be on Tuesday from 11:00am-1:00pm in J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, 40 West James Street, Richfield Springs . A funeral service to follow at 1:00pm with his nephew Joseph Zvirzdin, President of Church for Latter Day Saints, officiating.

Expressions of sympathy may be made with donations in his memory to the Richfield Springs Vets Club or the Susquehanna SPCA. Envelopes will be at the funeral home.
