Todd Christopher Smith

Todd Christopher Smith, age 48, of Saint Augustine, FL, passed away on Thursday, May 5, 2016, at his home.

He was born on July 14, 1967 in Cooperstown, son of James R. and Karen Cogan Smith.  Todd was raised in VanHornesville and was a graduate of Owen D. Young High School.  Upon his graduation he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and proudly served in the Persian Gulf War.  He was honorably discharged on November 21 1992, attaining the rank of Corporal.  Upon completing his military service he held various positions in telecommunications working mostly in the southern states.  He moved from Georgia to Florida, and had presently worked  for V.T. Milcom in Jacksonville, Fl.  He traveled the U.S. and the world delivering voice and data technical services to military bases.  With his military background, Todd was proud to be a member of the Patriot Guard Riders when he lived in Georgia.  To those who knew him he was a caring, helpful and dedicated man with an unforgettable smile. He will be sadly missed by his many friends and family.

Surviving are his parents, James R. and Karen Smith of VanHornesville, a brother, James R. Smith Jr. of Yorkville, three step-sons, Jason Davis and his wife Jessica of VA, Adam Davis and his wife Alyssa  and Casey Davis all of Saint Augustine, FL, three step-grandchildren, several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Calling hours for Mr. Smith will be on Sunday from 6:00 until 8:00 pm in J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, 40 West James Street; Richfield Springs.  A graveside funeral service with military honors will take place on Monday at 11:00 am in Springfield Center Cemetery with the Pastor Corey Jones, of the VanHornesville United Methodist Church Officiating.  Memorial donations may be made to the Richfield Springs American Legion Post #616. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
