Tom J. Bloomfield

ILION-Tom J. Bloomfield, aged 79, of Shull Street, passed away on Wednesday April 23, 2025.  Tom was in the comfort of his home, with his loving family by his side.

Tom was born on May 25, 1945 in Herkimer, a son to the late Charles W. and Opal M. Ackler Bloomfield.  He was raised and educated in Richfield Springs. After high school, he joined the United States Army, serving from 1964 to 1966.  On May 11, 1968, he married the love of his life, Patricia Ann Gaylord of Richfield Springs.  Tom and Pat were blessed with a loving union of fifty six years.  Tom and Patricia made Ilion their home for over three decades, residing near their loved ones.  Tom was a psychiatric aide at the Mohawk Valley Psychiatric Center in Utica, retiring in the year 2000.

Tom loved his children and grandchildren dearly.  He enjoyed watching them grow, and spent his time supporting all of the children's sporting events, celebrations, and accomplishments.  He was a proud family man.

Tom enjoyed playing softball with the Utica Muny League for over two decades.  He loved to camp, fish, and spend time enjoying other various hobbies with his wife , and best friend Pat, which included riding his motorcycle,snowmobile, and his boat.

Besides his wife Patricia, he is survived by his three daughters; Heather Zaino and her husband Mike of Newport, Victoria Looby of Scotia, Amanda Mroz and her husband Jeff of Ilion, five grandchildren; Michael Zaino and his wife Courtney, Taylor Zaino and her fiance' Dylan Klock, Reagan Looby, Brady Zaino, Scarlett Mroz, three great grand children; Lakelynn Lancaster, Maverick Zaino, Nolan Zaino, several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his two brothers, Allen Bloomfield, and Kenneth Bloomfield.

Services for Mr. Bloomfield will be private, and held at the convenience of the family.
