Veronica Hugick, 92 of the Grace Ridge community in Morganton, NC passed away in the early evening on October 30, 2026.
A native of Bridgeport, CT, she was born on June 7, 1934 to the late Mary (Gyongyos) Tibor and John Tibor. In addition to her parents, Veronica was predeceased by her beloved husband Paul Michael Hugick in 2020, and her 5 older siblings, Mary, Andrew, Anne, Edward, John, and Emily.
Veronica and Paul were married on October 11, 1952, and shared life for 67 years, living on Hugick Road in Richfield Springs for many of those years. Veronica moved to NC with her daughter Valerie and her late husband Steven after Paul passed.
Veronica was a devoted wife and loving mother of three children Sharon DiPasqua of Wyoming, Diane McGrath (her husband Frank) of Cherry Valley NY, and Valerie Stafstrom of NC, along with five beloved grandchildren Laura, John Jr and Thomas Mlecz, and Lindsay and Christian VanderVoort McGrath.
Veronica is very much like the poem a “Mother’s Hands”, Veronica had very few idle moments over the course of her life. She was a steadfast partner to her husband with work on the family farm for 45 years. As a committed homemaker, Veronica cooked and baked, canned and froze many fruits and vegetables, did gardening and yardwork. She sewed, crocheted, and did all types of needlework. She and Paul raised their children on the family farm with activities around 4-H and the Cornell Cooperative Extension. In her later years, Veronica was well known for doing jigsaw puzzles and word finds.
The family will be planning to have services in the spring coordinated by J Seaton McGrath Funeral Home in Richfield Springs and St Joseph the Worker’s Church, where Veronica and Paul were lifelong members. Interment of Veronica’s cremains will be held at the St. Joseph cemetery overlooking Canadorago Lake, joining Paul.
