RICHFIELD SPRINGS -Walter George Dyn Jr. age 75 of the town of Exeter passed away unexpectedly on Monday afternoon February 1, 2021 in his home. He was born on May 1, 1945 in Cooperstown, son of the late Walter G. Sr. and Beatrice Cushman Dyn. A lifelong Exeter residence, he was educated in Schuyler Lake and Richfield Springs High School. After High School he went into the US Army where he was a Helicopter Mechanic. He was honorably discharged in 196 7 attaining the rank of Private First Class. For fifty years he was married to the former Gailyn Ganzmann. Mr. Dyn was part owner of Dyns' Cider Mill with his brother and for 42 years owned and operated his Dairy Farm in the town of Exeter. Walter retired in 2008. In his leisure time he spen t time with family, drawing , and reminiscing about the good ol'days. To all who knew him he will always be remembered as a compassionate, generous, and intelligent man. He will be sadly missed.
Surviving him are four daughters, Pamela Dyn Gohde and her husband August " Ziggy " of Schenevus, Shelley Dyn and her fiancé J effrey Metot of Little Falls, Deonna Fagan and her husband Jay of Jordanville, Trisha Dyn of Frankfort, a brother, Kenneth Dyn and his wife Dale of Richfield Springs, one sister, Sabrina Bodak and her husband Marc of West Winfield, grandchildren Danielle and Kaitlyn LaGrange, Matthew Dyn, Jensen Grescheck and her husband Zachary Gerk e n , Adrienne Forbes, Gabrielle Macan, Dakota Crim, Christian, Emma, and Riley Gohde, three great-grandchildren, Levi Burrell, Ella and Liam Gohde , along with several other nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a sister Nioga Rankins and a granddaughter Carrie Lynn Forbes.
Calling hours in J. Seaton McGrath Funeral Home, 40 West James Street, Richfield Springs, will be on Saturday, Feb. 13 th from 2-4pm. Interment will be later this spring at the family's convenience.
Expressions of sympathy may be made with memorial donations to The American Cancer Society, American Diabetes Association or The Wounded Warriors.
